INTRO: Depressed At Your Request
Hi, hello, welcome!
My name is Taysa and I was officially diagnosed with Clinical Depression and Anxiety in 2014 when I was 26. My life is lived periodically In The Black or Waiting For The Black. It's a shit show let me tell you. But the good news here is I am like 300 million people on this planet so at least I have a commonality with some of you.
I am writing this blog because I have a little experience on getting through some really bloody hard times, and thought to share with people who are facing some real mental health shit now because of Coronavirus.
There's going to be a lot of voices chiming in on how to help your mental health during this time. Due to my intimate understanding of the worry fear and general bleakness of my life, I may have some little nuggets of advice of how to get through to help you.
I've been doing the self-help carousel for a while and I feel like I've tried it all. Some things I've tried but are not limited to;
- Changed my diet (cutting down/out sugar, no caffeine, tried vegetarianism, tried veganism for a year, overall tried eating better, tried keto)
- Taken extra Vitamins and Supplements (B12, Juice Plus +, Magnesium, Once a Day Tablets, Iron)
- Exercise (General Gym-going, Calisthenics, Yoga, Aerial Silks, Pilates, Walking, Running, Karate)
- Meditation
- Mindfulness and Visualisation
- Read more self-help books than I can count
- Cleaned my house (Ma, be proud!)
-Writing away the sads (which you can see here if you're curious)
-Taken up hobbies (Painting, Drawing, Knitting,DnD, Baking, Learning a new Language)
-Tried varying medications and upped doses with my GP (Escitaloprám, Pristiq, Zoloft)
- Weekly sessions with my GP and Psychologist
- I even went to a Psychiatrist
There are periods where certain things work, and other times they don't. Sometimes it was a combination of a lot of these things. And sometimes none of those things worked.
But basically this was just my resume of personal experiences I have with living when I have not wanted to keep going. I also happen to pass extremely well, so a lot of people outside my circle don't know the extent of my daily battles.
But I am here to help you as much as I can.
Take what you like and run with it. Anything you don't like, just ignore it. Simple. What works for me, may not work for you.
Most of all I am here to tell you that I am here to listen too. And you're not alone. We are all in this together.
